Built in 1927, the Dept W building is a beautiful example of Neoclassical Architecture with its traditional features, grand entrance and statement feel. Formally a Wickham’s Department Store (family-owned business aiming to be the Harrods of the East end), the building not only has a natural charm but also a rich history and Tribe were keen to compliment this through the furnishings.

The client is a Property Asset Management company and Tribe were appointed to create a fluid marketing suite throughout the space which would allow potential tenants to visualise the style, look & potential of both furniture and working areas within the space.

To help meet the brief set by the client, the team sourced unique, vintage pieces in addition to working with manufacturers that complimented the design. To name a few, Norr11, Mater Design, &Tradition, Case Furniture, United Strangers, Hay, Anglepoise & Workstories.

This project came with an extremely tight deadline so there was a huge focus on lead-times as well as the overall design aesthetic. The result is stunning and Tribe were proud to have had the chance to work in a beautiful building with such rich history.
