Elite law firm, Wikborg Rein, had outgrown their old office and secured new premises near to St Paul’s Cathedral when they approached Thirdway and Tribe Furniture. With a recruitment drive underway, they needed space for the current team, for future expansion and for visiting colleagues from overseas.

Their global headquarters in Norway had recently undergone refurbishment and its design was the starting point for inspiration and discussions around the look and style of the London office.

The client wanted to maintain elements of its Scandinavian design but put an edgier, British spin on it. With this in mind, Thirdway’s design team and Tribe combined the minimalism, clean lines and organic textures of Scandinavia alongside a more neutral colour palette built up of light greys and natural colours.

Whilst some more creative elements have been introduced to the space, they are refined and sophisticated, clean and functional. The focus on aesthetic details were as important as the office’s function.

Tribe worked hard to meet budget requirements whist meeting the exact brief for the look and feel that the client envisaged for the project. The team also collaborated with their bespoke joinery contractors who beautifully revitalised some of the existing furniture. A stand-out item is the sizeable boardroom table which is a 2600mm circular diameter meeting table.

This project was unique due to the client wanting to challenge the traditionally conservative style of a corporate workplace to create an office that is unique and innovative within the legal sector. Tribe helped to deliver an innovative project which will lead as an example of the future for corporate workplace interiors.
